When it comes to sports cars there are only a few competitors to the marauding Ford Mustang. This American speed czar named after the famous World War II fighter plane, P-51 Mustang, has been ruling the race tarmac for over forty five years now. As one of the prized possessions from the stable of Ford, Mustang has seen many a design changes suiting the varied tastes of car connoisseurs over the years. Now into the sixth generation since its evolution as a ‘concept car,’ the year 2017 has seen the unveiling of ten new models that embrace Mustang’s legendary powerful engine performance with modern day styling, presence of features and comfort.
The models, in an interesting departure to the pre owned Ford Mustang nomenclature of yore, carry the year 2017 prefixed to their names such as:
- 2017 Mustang V6 Fastback
- 2017 Mustang Ecoboost Fastback
- 2017 Mustang V6 Convertible
- 2017 Mustang Ecoboost Premium Fastback
- 2017 Mustang GT Fastback
- 2017 Mustang Ecoboost Premium Convertible
- 2017 Mustang GT Premium Fastback
- 2017 Mustang GT Premium Convertible
- 2017 Mustang Shelby GT350
- 2017 Mustang Shelby GT350R
These models come powered with four types of engines
The 2.3-litre Ecoboost: Part of the Ecoboost standard and premium models, this petrol engine can deliver 310hp of robust power and transfer a strident torque to the tune of 434Nm.
The 5.0-litre GT: This V8 engine kicks in with 435hp of maximum power and sets the wheel in motion with 542Nm of powerful torque. This vroom sound maker forms part of the GT and GT premium models.
The 3.7-litre V6: Flaunting Ti-VCT technology, the engine delivers 300hp of maximum power and a peak torque of 380Nm. The technology ensures optimized use of power to achieve fuel efficiency to the tune of 9Kmpl approx. This V6 engine forms the heart of Fastback model and brings about a balance between raw power and an efficient fuel intake.
The 5.2-litre V8: The most powerful of the four engines generates awesome peak power and torque values of 526hp and 582Nm. As part of the Shelby GT350 model, the engine helps the car to barrel down the tarmac beating anything on the way.
The various features forming part of the 2017 models are exquisite in their appeal and fairly advanced in their usage:
Magne Ride Damping System: The motion sensors present in this contrivance adjusts the magnetic force at an optimal level on sensing a pothole, bump or obstacle. This provides added comfort and control to the travelers as the shock absorbers improve the road feel by reducing body roll.
Intelligent Access with Push Button Start: The door of this 2017 variant of Mustang, an improvement over pre owned Ford Mustang cars, can be opened even without the keys by just touching the handle. Thereupon, the engine can be ignited by mere pushing of a button.
Blind Spot Information System or BLISS: Through the presence of radar, the system alerts the driver through an indicator light on the external mirror should a vehicle is detected in the blind spot. Besides, the cross traffic sensors offer audio and video clues if a vehicle is found 15 yards away or while backing out of a parking spot.
Adaptive Cruise Control and Rain Sensing Wipers: The system automatically slows the vehicle at a pre set distance if the traffic ahead is found to be crawling. Conversely, the vehicle is put on a pre set speed when the traffic gathers speed. The rain sensing wipers start to move on the windshield automatically during rain or snow.
